I wonder if anyone has had a child diagnosed with Canavan's made by MRI?   Not urine.

My son Nicholas was dignosed through urine.  We also did a skin biopsy for the missing enzyme and blood for the gene mutation.  A diagnosis by an MRI I wouldn't think would be the best, just because there are a number of diseases that cause a lack of myelin.  Once again I hope this helps.

Sarp's urine test results were always normal. This caused delay on diagnosis. The first MRI was normal as well. We were diagnosed with Canavan at the 8th month with the second MRI and MR Spectro. The result of urine test was normal at that time. Still the level of NAA in urine is same. :(
