Nicholas had his GJ tube placed yesterday. Came through like a champ. Question to those parents who's kids have a GJ, did your child start gaining weight right away?  Hoping to plump this boy up.

Sarp has a G Tube but I do not know if G tube and GJ tube is different. Can somebody explain it to me?

Hi Bihter,

Yes, they are different.  A GJ tube actually can be used to feed a child two ways.  It's one tube with a smaller tube inside.  1 tube feeds into the stomach and the other feeds into the intestine.  The GJ tube is for children that have problems with their stomachs.  I use both for Nicholas, and he has gained 2 pounds already.  So for him it was the right thing to do.

Thank you Brenda for reply.

I hope he will be very pleased with it and you will not have any problem anymore.

Hi

First Ben had a G-tube, then a GJ tube and now he has two seperate sites one G-tube and one J-tube this has worked so much better as his reflux always gave him problems before.  For the first time ever he has gained weight well this year and we have actually had to reduce the amount of feed we give him.
