Happy New Year Everyone. May this year bring us good health and guidance to make it through another year full of blessings.

I wanted to know if anyone knows of a Doctor in California or Texas that see's Canavan children on a regular basis? My family and I are planning on taking a trip to these two states in the next couple of months and would like to follow up with an actual Doctor who has some experience with Canavan children.

We might possibly move to one of these states in the next year or so and would love to know if there is a doctor that is knowledgeable of this Disease. We live in Hawaii and realized that our daughter is the first Pacific Islander with this Disease, so it is pretty rare in this state. Don't get me wrong they are awesome Doc's but not so knowledgeable of this Disease.

i heard from my kids doctor that texas is where they are doing the testing for the canavan to find a cure at the university of texas i hevent asked if there are any dotors out there but me and my husband were thinking on moving out there before my second child was born but my husband said he dodnt want to take that chance because the doctors in massachusetts were we travel to are excellent we live about 45min from my son and daughters docs but will be meeting some new doctors soon in New jersey i hope all goes well and god bless

hi heidi.   when are you going to New jersey.  we are leaving Jan. 17 to see the doctors .

i believe some time after june my daughter has an appt in mass in march and son in june then we will confirm with there doctor and get referred over their after march

Thank you so much for all the information. I was wondering if you knew which University of Texas it was because when I had tried to look them up online, I got University of Texas in a bunch of different cities. If you can find out I would greatly appreciate it.

the soonest i can find out is in march when my daughter goes to the doctors unless the doctor contacts me earlier but ill deffinity let you know
